REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER

1. Permanent identification on animal at time of registering.
All goats submitted for registration must be permanently identified with a USDA Scrapie approved tamper proof Ear Tag, Micro Chip, or Tattoos.

2. A photo taken the same year of each goat in fleece must be submitted with application for registration.

3. The known pedigree of each goat must be submitted with application for registration.

4. Register as Cashmere producing stock with a 32 point Fleece Test.

A current year fleece must be entered into TCGR‘s annual fleece evaluation to be sampled and tested.
A 32 point sample will be taken from each fleece. This sample will be tested on six criteria; Mean Fiber Diameter, Standard Deviation, Coefficient of Variation, Curvature, Length, and Minimum Weight of total fleece.
The fleece must be marked with the goats identifying names, and numbers that correspond with the application for registry. Also the date fleece sample was harvested.
All testing results will be reported to each fleece owner and will be recorded and maintained by The Cashmere Goat Registry™.
The 32 point fleece sample must meet The Cashmere Goat Registry™ Breed Standards in the above stated six areas of testing.

5. Goats that fail to meet The Cashmere Goat Registry™ requirements on their fleece test will not be accepted into the registry at that time. Goats failing to meet the requirements may apply again with future fleece testing.

6. All required information must be filled out on the registry application form.

7. A two –part name, consisting of the herd code and an individual name can be assigned to each goat being submitted for registration. 

8. All goats have an USDA Scrapie Premises identification number and a unique individual-animal
identification number on a tamper proof tag or tattooed on each animal.

9. The owner of the DOE at the time of breeding is considered to be the herd of origin for kids born of that breeding.

10. A breeder’s certificate signed by the owner(s) of the sire, for all goats sired by a buck not owned by that breeder,
must accompany the application for registration when applying for registration. This rule applies to all goats
born in 2008 and there after.

13. Goats NOT eligible for registration: deformed and/or unsound body, including teeth and single testicle, and broken color on body.

14. Cost to apply to register each goat: $17.50  (this includes the $12.50 cost for lab testing, shipping cost, and certificates)
Change of ownership $ 5.00
Re-issue of certificate $ 5.00

The Cashmere Goat Registry™ reserves the right to include/exclude any individual goat based on its individual merit. This may include – but is not necessarily limited to – compliance with breed standard/type; the ability to reproduce in kind; and demonstrated breeder integrity. Appeals to these decisions will be considered, but The Cashmere Goat Registry™ reserves the right to the final determination. Acceptance of any application for registration is based on these stated criteria.
These regulations may be amended at any time, at the sole discretion of The Cashmere Goat Registry™ and/or its administrators. Application Fees are non refundable.
